Ahoy My Gorgeous Blog Readerers!
This week is a very important week! It is HIV Testing Week! I am here to remind you of the importance not only to get tested for HIV but for all Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and Blood Borne Viruses (BBVs). If you are having
the sexy time you need to get out there and get jabbed (eh eh) and make sure that you are healthy and disease free. Most STIs can now be detected by a simple urine test, however you will still need a blood test for HIV. Some services can offer rapid results
and there is also the option for some target populations to have a
Dry Blood Test. In NSW the testing rates have increased and positive results have decreased which is fucking AMAZING! But there is still a lot of work to be done. You can get this done at your GP or a sexual health clinic. Below are a bunch of links for
each state and many of the sexual health clinics.
You can also access Aboriginal Medical Services if you’re Koori. You can
Google your closest family planning org (though they often do charge) or there are also a bunch of
LGBTIQ+ Services who provide extensive services for those within the rainbow community. There is also the option of
PEP
post-exposure prophylaxis, taken after possible exposure to HIV and
PrEP which is a preventative measure aimed at target populations.
PrEP is recommended for people who are considered at risk of getting HIV. You are at risk if you:
-
Are a man (cis or trans) who has anal sex with other men and does not always use a condom
-
Have a heterosexual partner who has HIV and you want to have a baby
-
Have a partner who is HIV positive but has not achieved an undetectable viral load, and you don’t always use a condom
So don’t be a fool, wear a condom be that internal or external and know the status of yourself and those you are fucking.
And obviously GET TESTED!!!!! It won’t kill you and neither will a positive result!
PEACE AND LUST
SEXY JESS
